Aaron will be a student teaching in Mr. Heasman’s classroom this year. Aaron thoroughly enjoyed his time observing and substituting throughout the ‘21-’22 school year, and is excited to be getting more involved at Gateway. The son of two public school teachers, Aaron was infused early on with a love for the outdoors (camping with his family all summer was the norm), history, and education.  

Aaron graduated from Stanford in ‘05 with a degree in Philosophy, and is currently enrolled in the teacher credentialing program at San Francisco State. Since graduation from Stanford, Aaron has enjoyed jobs in the restaurant and outdoor industry, and has spent time living in Tennessee, Texas and Southern California, though San Francisco is definitely where he considers “home” to be. If you ever want to talk about anything backpacking, restaurant, or Argentine soccer related, Aaron is your guy.

Jenna has a Bachelors in Community Studies from UCSC and a Masters in Counseling Psychology from USF. She is a lifelong Bay Area resident who grew up in the peninsula and has been in San Francisco since 2010. She has worked with youth in various roles and environments including as a writing coach and mentor, a music instructor, a substitute teacher, an after-school program teacher, and in community settings while organizing youth-focused music and arts events. As the College and Career Counselor she works on things like flex blocks and enrichment flex opportunities, student opportunities, community partnerships, and school-wide college and career workshops, events and supports. For fun she likes to play guitar and sing in punk and indie bands, read, walk her dog and enjoy the city :).

Marlies McCallum is a huge fan of Gateway! She began her Gateway career in 2006 as a Learning Specialist, took on the role of Literacy Specialist once she completed her Wilson Reading Certification Training in 2008, and became the Director of Gateway High’s Learning Center in 2011. Marlies graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor's degree in psychology and received her Special Education Credential at the University of San Francisco in 2002. Before entering the world of education, Marlies enjoyed managing midwestern swimming pools, hockey rinks, and Girl Scout camps.

Kevin joined Gateway as the Director of Technology in 2002. Prior to becoming a Gator, he flew airplanes in Florida, studied prehistoric humans in New York and enjoyed an epic cross-country roadtrip. Kevin worked at Ziff Davis Media in SF as a Project Leader designing and conducting usability and performance tests to evaluate products ranging from computers & cell phones to software solutions & web services. After the dot-com bust, he entered the ed-tech field as a technology teacher for Aim High's youth program, and was later employed by Burke's School as a multimedia teacher and support specialist. Kevin manages Gateway's technology systems with his team.

Krystle Morales teaches Dance at Gateway High School. Krystle has over 15 years of experience as a Professional Hip Hop Dancer, Actor, Dance Fitness Education Specialist and Dance teacher. Miss Krystle has been working with various non profit programs for the past 4 years in the Bay Area, that focus on empowering at risk youth in elementary, middle and high schools.  She is excited to teach the students of Gateway how to find their voice, build confidence in movement, and explore their inner Artist. 

Sara was raised in Omaha and moved to Northern California as a teen. She attended Reed College in Portland majoring in Philosophy and later Golden Gate University for a M.A. in Arts Management. Sara worked in education, then in finance (equity options trading), in arts education program development, in retail as an entrepreneur, and she returned to teaching in 2010 to support students with math, eventually leading to a degree in Special Education from San Francisco State University. Sara is particularly interested in language and visual-spatial development as related to mathematical achievement.

Sharon is the Executive Director of Gateway Public Schools. In 2000, Sharon joined Gateway’s faculty as a Humanities Teacher. Since then, Sharon has been a Lead Teacher, Dean of Faculty, and served as the Principal of Gateway High School for seven years. During her tenure as Principal, Gateway was recognized as a California Distinguished School and as a top-performing charter high school by the US Department of Education. In 2011, Sharon helped launch Gateway’s second school, Gateway Middle School. Sharon is inspired by the potential of young people and by Gateway’s amazing teachers and staff who help students get on the road to college. Sharon earned her B.A. from Harvard University, where she was captain of the varsity soccer team, and earned her M.A. in Education from Stanford University. Sharon taught a course in the Stanford Teacher Education Program called “Educating for Equity and Democracy,” and worked for Senator Feinstein for two years before beginning her career in education. Sharon is proud of her Bay Area roots, her San Francisco Giants, and her very well behaved dog, Cody Ross.

Molly Orner joined the Humanities department at Gateway High School in the fall of 2007. An East Coast transplant, Molly moved to California following graduation from Oberlin College. As a Teach for America (TFA) corps member she taught at a continuation high school in San Jose for two years. After completing her TFA assignment she took a break from teaching to work in non-profit development. During this time she realized that she profoundly missed teaching and left the development world to earn a credential and M.Ed from Stanford University. Molly is a parent of two SFUSD elementary school students. She identifies her happy place as one with books or nature, preferably a combination of the two.
