Marcy Hernandez (she/her)

Marcy knew at a young age that her educational experience was not what she wanted it to be. Born in Miami and raised in Tallahassee, Florida she did not feel a strong sense of belonging nor engagement at school. When she moved to California to attend college, she experienced the ways in which feeling safe and connected at school and with the curriculum led to academic achievement and an overall love of learning. After graduating with a BA in Ethnic Studies from UC Berkeley, she began her lifelong career in education starting as a college counselor and moving to teaching and eventually administration. Marcy is a music enthusiast (unapologetically loving reggaeton and early 2000’s hip-hop and R&B), she loves cooking and eating, especially with her 5 and 8 year old children, and being outside in the Bay Area’s many phenomenal parks, beaches, mountains and microclimates.
