Cody models Gateway’s belief that all students should contribute to their communities, both now and in the future, however they can. He has been involved in peer resources, yearbook club, senior club committee, and has served as a student ambassador.
Cody is so well versed and knowledgeable about Gateway’s mission that according to Ms. Clobucker, one of Cody’s teachers, “he could run Gateway!” “During his time at Gateway, he has set a positive example for other students on what it looks like to be a student leader,” asserts Ms. Clobucker.
For his significant contributions and dedication to the Gateway community, as well as setting a positive example for others, Cody was the 2017 recipient of Gateway’s Service to Community Award.
He plans on attending San Francisco State University in the fall and hopes to learn more about business administration so he can stay involved with Gateway, either through an internship, full time career, or volunteer opportunity.
His advice to incoming freshmen would be to make the most out of their high school experience and to get involved in all that Gateway has to offer. He is thankful for “the teachers and staff at Gateway who make you feel like you’re really part of the community and who do everything in their power to help you succeed.”
