Over the last year, Gateway has been hard at work transforming an underutilized 5,600 foot locker room on the Gateway High School campus into a state of the art center for science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM).
Gateway’s new Impact Lab will provide all of our students with the opportunity to tinker, test, prototype, and engage in hands on learning that requires real world problem solving.
With the help of a committee composed of faculty, staff, and board members, the site is currently being designed with space for instruction, creative and experiential learning, building and fabrication, and presentations and meetings.
As construction completes this summer, the Gateway Impact Lab will provide hands-on science and math labs, a hub for our Robotics program, performing and visual arts work space, a gallery, and music studio in the 2017-2018 school year.
In addition to providing much needed space for our current programming and curriculum, the Gateway Impact Lab will be home to new programs and city-wide partnerships and events come 2018.
We are excited about all of the opportunities that the Gateway Impact Lab will provide to our students and are grateful for the generous support that has made this dynamic new initiative possible. Click here to view the Gateway Impact Lab’s progress!
