Lawrenzo Howell (he/him/his)

Biography

Originally from Chicago, Mr. Howell is ecstatic to be a part of the Gateway family. As a Humanities 9 teacher, Mr. Howell seeks to elevate the voices, perspectives, and histories of his students and their communities to create a classroom that is inclusive, safe, and welcoming. Outside of the classroom, Mr. Howell enjoys reading, watching Reality TV, baking, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.

Gabe Johnson (he/him)

Biography

Gabe was born in Oakland and grew up in Sonoma County. He attended UC Santa Cruz for his undergraduate degree in Religious Studies, before getting his MFA in Poetry at Saint Mary’s College. He joined the Gateway community in 2019-20 after 5 years of teaching 8th grade History in Oakland, where he still lives.

Stephanie Khaziran

Biography

Ms. Khaziran joined the Gateway family in 2015 and is Co-Principal at GHS. She grew up in Los Angeles, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Sociology. She moved to San Francisco in order to pursue a Master of Arts from USF in Counseling Psychology. After several years of working as a school counselor in San Francisco, Ms. Khaziran attended the UC Berkeley Principal Leadership Institute, where she earned her Master of Arts in Education. When she isn't running around the halls of Gateway, Ms. Khaziran spends her time teaching graduate students at USF and exploring the Bay Area.

Eliza Kingsley-Ma

Biography

Eliza Kingsley-Ma teaches Humanities 11 and AP Literature at Gateway High School. Eliza joins the Gateway community after four years of teaching in the Bay Area. She earned her B.A. in American Studies and Latin American Studies from Wesleyan University. After college, Eliza eagerly returned to the Bay to teach, and has worked with students in El Cerrito, Marin, SF,  Sunnyvale and Oakland. Most recently, Eliza graduated with an M.A. and Teaching Credential from Stanford University. Eliza most enjoys running hidden city trails and visiting new library branches in her hometown, San Francisco.

Learning Specialist
Biography

Johnny thanks his teachers, both inside the classroom and out, who encouraged a love of language, diverse cultures and self-discovery. He is excited to join the community of Gateway as one of our new Learning Specialists. He graduated from UC Santa Barbara with an honors degree in International Relations, studying abroad in Germany and Sweden. He spent the next 20 years creating plays and films throughout America as a writer-director and performer. During this time, he taught high school drama, ESL, behavior therapy, and special education K-12, including 10 years in SFUSD. A lifelong learner, Johnny received his master’s degree from SF State. His belief in the power of education to transform lives has led to 30 years of psychological and spiritual practice, where he now works as an energy healer with individuals and groups. He feels incredibly lucky to live every day with his partner and three cats in beautiful San Francisco.

Shannon Jin-A Lamborn (they/she)

Biography

Shannon teaches Humanities 10 and AP Literature at Gateway High School. They attended San Francisco State University for undergraduate studies and UC Berkeley for graduate school. Outside of school, Shannon enjoys taking portraits of friends, bike riding, and binge watching television.

Teter Lindsie (they/them/theirs)

Biography

Teter is stoked to be joining the team at Gateway Public Schools! They earned their M.A. in Women and Gender Studies at San Francisco State University shortly after moving to the East Bay from Georgia. They are excited and invigorated by building and nurturing connections. They enjoy karaoke, weekly trivia, and live music, among many things! More often than not, though, you can find them cuddled up with Baby (their cat) and Omelette (their dog).
